Swift is now open source!

Apple have opened a new chapter in the story of Swift. After Apple unveiled the Swift programming language, it quickly became one of the fastest growing languages in history. Swift makes it easy to write software that is incredibly fast and safe by design. Now that Swift is open source, you can help make the best general purpose programming language available everywhere.

For students, learning Swift has been a great introduction to modern programming concepts and best practices. And because it is now open, their Swift skills will be able to be applied to an even broader range of platforms, from mobile devices to the desktop to the cloud.

The Swift community is now available and entered around www.Swift.org and a dedicated site in order to build a better programming language for everyone.

Swift Goes Open Source

At WWDC 2015 Apple announced SWIFT 2.0 with the news that SWIFT would become Open Source!

This sets the stage for Apple’s new intuitive and type safe SWIFT language to become the next revolution in programming software and applications.

The adoption of SWIFT by programmers since its release in 2014 has been truly incredible. However this has not been without some initial teething issues as expected for such a large scale complex roll out with a steep development curve.

Therefore by making the SWIFT language open source it will enhance its adoption and speed up the development of the language to make it even more powerful and accelerate its use.
